Why not to cook mackerel in the microwave

I’ve recently spent some time talking to a really talented and inspirational person. She started her business five years ago and whilst I didn’t know  her right at the start,  I have talked, met and used her “products” for about three years.

When we met recently really kind and shared hints and tips about running a business some of the highs and lows and other great advice.

We discussed everything from the merits of a good accountant, the need to maintain social connections whilst working independently,  and even  why not to cook fish in the office microwave. Apparently it’s a good test of whether you’ll fit into the team or not.

What really struck me was how freely she shared her insights and the genuineness when she wished me good luck.

The kindness of others was a massive part of last week. The friend who reviewed my profile and shared his business insights and another fabulous coach who spoke with passion about her coaching business, it’s unique nature and lessons learnt when giving up a full time job to go it alone.

From time to time I think isn’t the world an awful place but the reality is that’s it’s filled with great people, supporting others to achieve their potential and to wanting them to be happy and their best self. That’s what I want to do.

Thank you Jo, Ian & Claire

P.S. No you should never cook fish in an office microwave.
