Leadership coaching and facilitation in Manchester for individuals and teams who want to move forward

I work with organisations across Manchester and the UK to help people think clearly, have better conversations and move things forward.

If things feel unclear, stuck or harder than they should be, I create the space to step back, make sense of it and agree what happens next.

You can arrange a conversation here:

Clients often come to me when:

• there’s a lack of clarity or things feel stuck

• organisations want to explore issues in a structured and impartial way

• they need to gather honest insight from staff through focus groups or one-to-one conversations

• key conversations aren’t happening or aren’t effective

• teams aren’t aligned or working as effectively as they could be

• there’s a need to translate ideas into clear, accountable action

How I can help

I tend to support people and teams in three main ways:

Coaching for clarity, confidence and direction

One-to-one coaching gives you the space to think properly.

Space you rarely get in day-to-day work.

We’ll work through what’s on your mind, make sense of it, and identify clear next steps that feel realistic.

You’ll leave each session with:

  • clearer thinking

  • a sense of direction

  • and something you can act on straight away

Facilitation and away days for teams that need clarity and direction

If you’re bringing a team together, it needs to count.

I design and facilitate sessions that help teams:

  • have honest conversations

  • get aligned

  • and leave with clear actions

This might be a team away day, a planning session, or a reset when things feel off track.

It won’t be a talking shop.

It will lead somewhere.

Workshops and Training

Practical sessions on communication, meetings, accessibility and personal effectiveness. Grounded in real work, not theory.

Who I work with

Much of my work is with universities and public sector organisations, where I support leaders and teams to step back, get clear on what matters and move things forward in a practical way.

That includes work with the University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Liverpool. I’ve also worked with organisations such as Greater Manchester Police, the National Lottery Heritage Fund and The University Caterers Organisation (TUCO).

The common thread tends to be the same. People are busy, things feel a bit stuck or unclear, and there’s a need to create some space to think, talk things through properly and agree what happens next.

We didn’t just talk. We made real progress”
The session wasn’t just discussion. We left with clear actions that made a difference straight away
— Director of Campus Services, University of Manchester

What clients value

  • Straightforward conversations that get to the point

  • An impartial outside perspective

  • Sessions that don’t drift or turn into talking shops

  • Clear actions with ownership and follow-up

One client told me a commitment made during a session later saved them £30,000 in agency costs. That only happens when people leave with clarity and actually follow things through.

How we would work together

1. Initial conversation

We talk through what’s going on and what you need.

2. Agree the focus

We shape the session or coaching around real priorities.

3. Deliver and follow through

The session leads to clear actions, not just ideas.

About Me

I’m Peter, a coach and facilitator based in Manchester.

Before setting up The GROW Coach, I worked in Learning and Organisational Development at the University of Manchester. That experience shapes how I work today. I understand the realities of large organisations and the challenge of getting people aligned.

I keep things simple. No jargon. Just practical conversations that lead somewhere useful.

If you’re thinking about coaching or need someone to facilitate a session that actually delivers something, feel free to get in touch.
