It all began with a question.

It all began with a question, in a bar, over a cocktail. A really simple question. “What is stopping you?”

Well lets rewind a bit. The first question was what would be your ideal? My response was “ to finish work in mid September, to go on holiday for two weeks and then not return to work”

Work was the organisation where I have worked ( and still do until 30.09.22) in the role I have occupied for 6 or 7 years. I wanted to retire. I will be 55 on the 1st October. I enjoy my work (most of the time , like most people I expect) but I have felt sometime I wanted a change.

The second question was “ What is stopping you?”. I didn’t answer in that moment. Later that evening I was walking back to the tram stop and mulling over the question in my head and I realised the only thing that was stopping me were the thoughts and self doubt.

I reflected that in my life there had been so many opportunities I have missed out on because of self doubt. In the moment I decided, no more self doubt. Grasp this opportunity and run with it.

This has led to me (semi) retiring in September, booking a holiday, starting this business and feeling happy, content, optimistic, motivated. Much more so than I have for a long time.

Don’t let self doubt make you fail to grasp opportunities that are presented to you. Seize them and run with them.

Finally thank you Craig for asking the question.
